Story Behind the Book
Each of my novels is a piece of my heart. Where Yesterday Lives was my first-ever novel, and as such it is somewhat autobiographical. The childhood story of Ellen Barrett, her love for her parents and siblings, is my story–though her current story and struggles are fictional. On Every Side sheds light on the struggle for religious freedom in today’s climate, something I am passionate about. Finally, When Joy Came to Stay is the story of one woman’s battle against depression and the secrets of her past.

I read this collection while I was sick and found it absorbing enough to read for hours on end, not an easy task when you are feeling miserable. I was frustrated however, by the multitude of typos. There were even occasions when it took a few moments to figure out what it is supposed to say. The insertion of scripture from time to time is something I appreciated, though perhaps everyone wouldn't. While I anticipated the final outcome, there were some surprises in how it arrived. Karen Kinsgbury. Need I say more? Probably the best Christian fiction writer around. Ages young (teen +) and old alike love her writing style. Every one of her books reels you in and always leaves you with a warm feeling.
They were all great books. When Joy Came To Stay was a tearjerker, but as always, it had a happy ending. I haven't read one of her books I didn't enjoy all the way to the end.
The first book in this book of 3 was my least favorite Karen Kingsbury to read to date. It was very hard to get into and not easy to follow.
The second book was better and overall I liked it.
The third book in this book was my favorite! I couldn't put it down.
Overall it was a decent book but I probably would have just enjoyed the last 2 books by themselves better.
The 3-in-1 was economic and fantastic reads! I wonder if these were drafts because there were many misspellings, grammar, and punctuation issues. One note about the book "Where Yesterday Lives" - I didn't like the conclusion. The main character was still emotionally attached to her first love, which I understand can happen. However, even if she still had feelings for him, as a woman of God, she should never express that to him. The way the book was written, it seemed to make it OK for the main character to pour out her heart to this guy, even though she was married to someone else. That surprised me for Karen Kingsbury, but maybe I misunderstood. Otherwise, the books were excellent - I love Kingsbury fiction!!!
I love reading Karen Kingsbury 's books. I can't wait for my next series to order for my kindle tomorrow. Thank God he has blessed Karen as a writer
In my opinion, Karen Kingsbury is the best contemporary Christian writer of our time. Her books make you feel that you are right there. I laugh and cry and get so involved that I have to read her books at home because I don't want people to see me reacting like I do out in public.
If you've never read her books, you don't know what you're missing.
Her books aren't just for Christians, anyone would enjoy them.

Where yesterday lives, and Joy came to stay, and On every side. I found them when I started I could not put then down.
All three books deal with relevent subjects. Where yesterday lives deals with 4 sisters and 1 brother, All very different and all let their pains and struggles during their growing up years rob them of how their lives are today. They were drifting apart and were most unhappy. It took a fathers funeral and mothers calm influence and some other issues to bring it all to the fore and deal with the past issues. They cleared the air so to speak, allowed God to cleanse them and ask for forgiveness and they could then continue a free'r live where relation ships between the siblings and their husbands was restored.
The second book When joy came to stay is with an issue of unwanted pregnancy, given the child up for addoption, what happens in some fosterhomes where children are dreadfully abused. A distraught Mum who cannot forget her little girl she gave up for addoption and how they finally were reunited. A terrific book of Gods grace, leading and forgiveness.
The third book.On every side, is also so good I could not put it down. ompletely differend and issues we do not have to worry about in Australia, for which I am very thankfull. I pray these situation will never get a foothold in our country. Karen Kingsbury is a terrific writer. God bless her and may she keep on writing and help people through her books.
